Water Efficiency Calculations

Building Regulations Part G requires all new residential dwellings to demonstrate compliance with water consumption targets. The standard requirement is a maximum of 125 litres per person per day. Water efficiency calculations assess the fixtures and fittings specified for the dwelling and calculate the total daily water consumption.

What We Need to Carry Out the Calculations

  • Architectural plans showing room layouts and fixture positions
  • Plumbing specification or schedule of sanitary fittings
  • Any planning conditions relating to water consumption targets

Key Considerations

  • Compliance with 125L/person/day mandatory Building Regulations requirement
  • Local authority planning policies may require stricter 110L/person/day target
  • Water efficiency calculations must be consistent with SAP calculations
  • Certification required for Building Control sign-off
